A Thomson, 1882. 4-storey corner tenement with classical detail, shop at ground floor to SW. Cream sandstone, polished ashlar to principal elevations, squared and snecked stugged rubble to rear and side. Band course above ground floor; cill band course at 2nd floor; eaves cornice and blocking course; roll-moulded segmental-arched windows at ground floor; architraved windows at 1st and 2nd floor; bracketted cills (except 1st floor windows to SW); 1st floor windows corniced with oval astragal pattern; rusticated quoins.
SW (DUKE STREET) ELEVATION: 4-bay including rounded corner bay to outer right; modern shopfront at ground floor; corner bay to outer right slightly recessed, framed by rusticated quoins, 1st floor window with consoled pediment, 2nd floor window corniced; single windows at 3rd floor; 2 short wallhead stacks. Bay to right of centre and to outer left with single windows. Bay to left of centre with 2-storey canted window at 1st and 2nd floor, tripartite window at 3rd floor.
SE (CONSTITUTION STREET) ELEVATION: 9-bay; ground floor with small paired windows, some blocked; 3 secondary doorways. Bipartite windows to 1st, 4th, 5th and 8th bay from left, at 1st floor pedimented, at 2nd floor with architraves circled over mullion. Single windows to remaining bays. 3 short shouldered wallhead stacks.
NE ELEVATION: gabled with later brick-built stair tower and additions.
NW (REAR) ELEVATION: irregular single windows; later brick-built additions.
Timber sash and case windows, mostly plate glass glazing, distinctive oval astragal pattern to 1st floor windows. Slate roof with lead flashings; 5 wallhead stacks (see above). Ornamental gutter heads.
INTERIOR: not seen 1993.
Built for Walter Pattison, warehouse and offices at ground and 1st floor with flats above.
