Description

Hugh Baird, engineer, circa 1820. Coursed, squared and stugged sandstone with ashlar string course and coping. Single-span segmental arch; slightly battered abutments. Ashlar voussoirs; projecting keystone with '15' inscribed; obscured by modern piping (follows line of bridge on W and E sides). Coped parapet.

Statement of Interest

The Edinburgh and Glasgow Union Canal was built 1818-22 and was designed by Hugh Baird, engineer.
