George Edward Wade, 1922-3. Bronze mounted equestrian statue on low rubble plinth. Uniformed statue of Earl Haig on horse marchant. Small metal plaque with inscription (see Notes).

Statement of Interest

The A group comprises the Esplanade itself and the group of monuments including the Statue of the Duke of York, the Scottish Horse Memorial, the 72nd Highlanders Memorial, the 78th Highlanders Memorial, the Monument to Colonel MacKenzie and the Statue of Earl Haig (all separately listed). Inscription reads 'EARL HAIG: This statue was presented to the City of Edinburgh by Sir Dhunjibhoy Bomanji of Bombay in admiration of the services rendered to the British Empire by the Field Marshal.'
