Description

John Chesser, 1893. 2-storey, 9-bay, classical terrace of 4 houses. Sandstone ashlar with architraved margins. Base course, cill bands at ground and 1st floors, eaves cornice and blocking course. Narrow windows.

W (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: 13 bays at ground, timber panelled doors with fanlights in architraved entrances in bays 3, 6, 7 and 12; windows to bays remaining, smaller window to outer right, regular fenestration above.

Timber sash and case windows with plate glass and 4-pane glazing, grey slates, ashlar ridge stacks with terracotta cans, skews, cast-iron railings.

INTERIOR: not seen 1998.

BOUNDARY WALLS: low coped ashlar walls enclosing site.

Statement of Interest

Heriot Trust. No 19 originally listed with Nos 21-35 (odd Nos) Bellevue Place. The terrace is on the site of an unexecuted scheme intended to mirror Thomas Bonnar's Bellevue Terrace (see also 1-11 and 21 -35 Bellevue Place and 4-11A Bellevue Terrace.
