Description

Thomas P Marwick, 1888. 4-storey baronial detailed corner tenement with shops at ground. Squared and snecked sandstone with contrasting red polished ashlar dressings. Cornice above shops; cill course at 2nd floor; cornice and string course above 2nd floor; chamfered reveals.

E (MARCHMONT ROAD) elevation: 5-bay, including corner bay. 4 altered shopfronts at round floor; panelled main door; margin-paned fanlight. Full-height canted window corbelled out over ground floor in bay to outer left and corbelled to square at gablehead. Bipartite windows in 2nd and 3rd bays; pedimented dormerheads to 3rd floor windows. Single windows in 4th bay; semi-circular dormerhead to 3rd floor window. Corner bay canted across angle; open pediment to central light of 1st floor window; cornice above 3rd floor; facetted pyramidal roof; lead finial.

N WARRENDER PARK ROAD elevation: 3-bay, excluding corner bay. Good early shopfronts to ground; fan glazing, inset glazed door with Art Noveau door furniture and decorative wrought iron gate to No 60. Single windows in 1st and 2nd bays; 1st bay gabled; semi-circular dormerhead to 3rd floor window in 2nd bay. Full-height canted window corbelled out over ground floor in bay to outer right and corbelled to square at gablehead. Plate glass sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; coped and rendered mutual and wallhead stacks; some original rainwater goods, including hoppers.

INTERIORS: not seen 1991.
