Description

R B Pratt, 1907-8 enlarging and remodelling earlier
house. Dated 1908. Substantial asymmetrical 2-storey
and attic gabled range on corner site. Rubble, tooled and
polished ashlar dressings. Entrance to No 1 in centre
of bowed angle flanked by small windows with Art
Nouveau coloured glazing; double leaf panelled doors,
3 1st floor windows above under wallhead balustrade and
facetted stumpy spire.
Flanking gabled bays to Institution Road and Duff Avenue,
the building extending 7 bays to Duff Avenue as No 3.
Slightly advanced porch with segmental-headed keystoned
entrance and double leaf panelled doors, porch surmounted
by balustrade. Extreme left (S) gabled bay fronted by
projecting canted window. Mainly bipartites and triparties;
all windows with 6-pane upper sashes and single pane lower.
Coped and string coursed and gable wallhead stacks; slate
roofs (Cumbrian green slates to spire); lead apex
finials.
Secondary entrance to No 1 in Institution Road.
