Description

Built 1785. Formerly the largest cotton mill in gatehouse, converted in 1850's tp bobbin manufacture, continuing in production until 1930's. Now (1991) in course of major restoration work. 3-storeys, 120 x 30ft rectangular-plan mill building, formerly with wheel to S gable (wheel removed). Rubble built with dressed margins, some brick infil. Regular 12-bay elevations to E and W, all single light windows with squared granitte lintels. Joist sockets indicate floor levels. Originally simple pitch roof.
