Charles Wilson, architect; circa 1855-8. French
Renaissance curved terrace of tenements, truncated at No
10 (East) and adjoining Park Terrace at West. 4 storeys
attics and basement. Paired 2-bay elevations with paired
doorpieces giving main-door access to whole ground
floor/common stair. Nos 1 and 2 slightly advanced and
probably earliest build. Polished ashlar, channelled at
ground mostly stonecleaned. Steps oversailing basement
to tripartite doorpieces with elongated consoles and
cornices. Full-height canted bay windows; all upper
windows architraved; 1st floor consoled and corniced;
2nd floor corniced (consoled at Nos 1 and 2). Sash
windows, plate-glass or 4-pane glazing. Continuous
string courses at cills; bracketted cornice; blocking
course. Axial stacks, plain flues, steeply pitched slate
roofs with recessed dormers. Good cast-iron railings to
basement and steps.
Interiors: moulded cast-iron beams support stone
cantilevered stair with cast-iron balusters.
Rear elevation: full height projecting square bays.
Though in fact tenements, the main door and common stair
arrangement is outwardly disguised as pairs of semi-
detached houses. Part of Woodlands Hill A Group.
