Description

Pugin and Pugin of Westminster, 1909-11. Romanesque
church on corner site, basilican-plan, bull-faced red
ashlar with polished dressings, narrow round-headed
lights. Lofty nave, pair doors in S (liturgical W)
gable, tall lights and sculptured figure; slate roofs.
Interior with round-arched aisle arcades, shallow
segmental-arched ceiling, elaborate stone carving at
liturgical E end, mostly in marble (altars, etc).
PRESBYTERY to E in similar materials, composed like a
double villa with outer bows, 2 storeys with attic
dormers, sash windows.
All enclosed by iron railings with intermittent bull-
faced ashlar piers.
