Description

Gateway to Queen Margaret Drive; A B McDonald city architect; circa 1894. 2 pairs of gates arranged with wide central carriageway flanked by narrow pedestrian gateway. 4 tall square gatepiers of banded ashlar and brick rising to octagonal domed ashlar caps with ball finials to outer pair, inner pair support wrought-iron lamp brackets. Elaborate wrought- iron gates with city arms.

At Kirklee Quadrant: 2 pairs of cast-iron gates with cast-iron gatepiers.

Surrounding gardens, low coped ashlar wall supports cast-iron railings. Opposite Kibble Palace and Kirklee Gardens; tall coped coursed ashlar wall.
