Description

Thomas Smellie of Kilmarnock, architect; circa 1902. 6-bay house (now part of Kelvinside Academy) being the return elevation of 11 Bellshaugh Road and sharing similar details.

2-storeys and basement; rock faced ashlar with polished basement, margins and dressings. Windows with roll-moulded reveals, mainly single light or bipartite; tripartite only at extreme left, ground floor. Two 2-storey canted bay windows with parapets breaking through eaves; plate glass lower sashes; small pane upper sashes. Steps oversailing basement to doorway with single sidelight; both with roll-moulded lugged architraves and common cornice. Continuous band course at 1st floor cills. Mutule main cornice, slate roofs. Wallhead and axial stacks.

Flank adjoining 11 Bellshaugh Road with 5-light canted window.

Rear elevation, stugged red ashlar with single storey projecting service wing.

Low ashlar wall links square ashlar gatepiers; at rear, retaining wall supports cast-iron railings.
