Description

John Carrick, circa 1860. Renaissance detailed police

station. 2 storeys, 5 x 5 bays. Polished ashlar, channelled

at ground floor with voussoirs. Sash and case windows.

Central arched entry to Anderston Street in advanced bay, elliptically-arched entry in 5th bay from W in Gullane

Street. Ground floor windows arched with geometric glazing

bars, impost band, keyblocks, ground floor cornice.

1st floor moulded cill band, projecting cills, panelled

aprons, segmentally pedimented, consoled windows. Aedicule

window with blind balcony over Anderson Street entrance.

Plain frieze, modillion cornice, blocking course, piended

slate roof.

Single-storey, droved ashlar E section to Gullane Street

with balustraded die parapet.
