J T Rochead, 1852-54. Renaissance detailed terrace with
advanced and raised flatted pavilions. Symmetrical. Nos 2-15,
3-storey and basement, 3-bay houses, Nos 3 and 4 combined.
Nos 1 and 16, 5-bay flats with upper floors entering from
side streets. Ashlar, channelled to ground floor with rusticated
long and short angle quoins to ground floor of pavilions.
Droved ashlar rear elevation. Panelled doors with sidelights
each at head of balustraded steps oversailing basement area.
No 4 entrance altered to window and steps partially removed.
Mainly sash and case windows with 4 and 6-pane glazing,
architraved above ground floor (lugged in pavilion). Console
bracketted 1st floor balcony with cast-iron parapet broken
in centre bay of each house by canted window; eaves
cornice. Slate roof, piended to end blocks. E and W 12-bay
returns, 2nd and 3rd return bays blind similarly detailed
with close and main door entries each at head of steps with
cast-iron railings. Corniced wallhead and axial stacks.
Cast-iron railings to basement parapet and boundary walls.
