Description

Probably late 19th century, and built as mews, with
cottages, stables and lofts. 2-storey row (curved at
south end), loft windows all with gabled heads; an
unusual feature is the staircase treatment, recessed in
open areas below main roof which continues over
(basically forestairs, but leaving the narrow lane free of
obstruction). Built in 2 main stages (evident on rear
wall - the northern part probably the addition), and to
front, some modern rebuilding at north end, but
reproducing original proportions. Polychrome brick at
south end and original slate roof, painted otherwise, with
modern concrete roof tiles; single first floor windows,
mostly sashes; at southern tip, a large ground floor
opening, loft door above with hoist.
