Description

Sir J J Burnet (Burnet, Son and Campbell), 1896-7. 4-storey
and attic classical commercial building, 6 bays. Classical,
French Renaissance related to Charing Cross Mansions.
Polished ashlar, channelled at ground where unaltered.
Entrance to upper floors with open, broken pediment. 3
eastern bays: symmetrical; recessed, canted window at 1st
floor central window with aedicule; balcony linking 3 2nd
floor canted windows, outer window rising to 3rd storey; bays
divided by giant order of fluted Ionic pilasters. Eaves
cornice. 3 dormers with shaped pediments. 3 W bays with
narrow bay at W; 2 3-storey canted bays at E, aedicule gable
above; aedicule detail to 2nd floor central lights; 2 2-light
attic windows.
