Description

James Brown of Brown and Carrick, circa 1851. Astylar

classical 4-storey and attic corner commercial building with

modern shops at ground floor; 12 x 5 bays with recessed,

curved corner bay. Polished ashlar, long and short angle

quoins. Sash and case windows in architraves, many altered.

1st floor windows panelled pilaster architraves, arched

windows with spandrels, rosette frieze over; 2nd floor lugged architraved windows on cill band; 3rd floor windows lugged

and shoulder architraved. Deep bracketted cornice. Panelled

die parapet with dies raised at ends and flanking corner.

Slate roof.

South return bay at Gordon Street repeating main detailing

with corniced attic window, raised parapet.
