Description

Style of David Hamilton and built circa 1830 for Duncan
of Mosesfield for whom Hamilton built Mosesfield House.
Picturesque Gothic villa with castellated tower. Now
(1988) abandoned. Rubble, with (peeling) harl, ashlar
dressings, crenellated parapets conceal roofs. Single
storey and arranged as U-plan clasping tower central at
W, 2-bay W elevation with semi-octagon of tower breaking
forward central, canted windows in flanking bays. TOWER
has round-headed bipartites, some with hood-moulds and
slits; string below parapet with masks set at angles;
circular staircase turret at rear rises above, with
cap-house.
Both flank walls have niche set in wall near W end; door
on N flank has depressed ogee head, dummy cross-loop
alongside.
