Description

John B Wilson, 1886-7. Free Italian Renaissance; at
corner with Glenapp Street. Yellow ashlar. 140"
campanile, angle buttresses, tall, paired round-arched
openings in open belfry stage; octagon above with
pilastered angles, facetted dome. Full-height canted
elevation to Albert Street with columned and pedimented
doorpieces in outer faces; above, angles articulated
with elaborate Corinthian columns framing bipartites
with deeply recessed round-arched heads containing
sculptured panels over the main entablature; parapet,
decorative ventilator set on roof. 3-bay side elevation
with tripartites to gallery level.
INTERIOR: coved ceiling to narthex and mosaic floor.
Body of church with panelled gallery very deep section
opposite the altar set into canted projection.
Decorative tie beams. Modern fittings.
