Description

Style of Charels Wilson. Mid 19th century. Italianate. Unusually long 2-storey terrace in straight row, and set back from street, small front gardens; centre houses (nos 42-54) shallow advanced. Ashlar, all painted with individual colour schemes. Houses each 2 bays, square-headed ground floor openings each with consoled hoods, round-headed 1st floor openings set in shallow panels, pilastered jambs and mullions; bipartite window over each doorway, tripartites in each second bay; plate-glass sashes; horizontal band courses, main cornice with mutules; axial stacks; continuous roof, some individual houses with original slates now replace by tiles.

Break in building stages evident on rear elevation between number 46/48.
