Description

Built 1884-85. Single sotrey long rectangular-plan station with stationmaster's cottage all under one roof. Bull-faced ashlar with polished dressings; mostly round-headed openings with roll-moulded margins and blocked imposts. Off-centre door on N elevation (ticket office within); S elevation: recessed 6-bay timbered and glazed inner screen with shelter behind (perhaps originally open), ornamented brackets above support roof; 3-bay cottage to right has central door with sidelights. Continuous band at cill level; deeply projecting eaves have brackets with moulded ends; corniced axial stacks; slate roof. Low outshot to E also domestic.

Ticket office with timber panelled and glazed front.

Statement of Interest

Line opened 1.7.1885 and closed 8.1.1983.

Footbridge spanning tracks dated 1884.
