Description

J R Rhind, 1903-5, as public library. Edwardian Baroque. 2-storey front near symmetrical; polished ashlar with sculptured detail; ground floor channelled; pavilioned end bays each corner, surmounted by winged figure; elaborate 3-bay centre, round-arched 1st floor windows (Venetian centre), divided by pilasters; parapet conceals roof.

Interior originally with top-lit reading room, much altered 1967-8 by Robert Rogerson and Philip Spence with City Architect.
