Description

Early 20th century. 3-storey 3-bay Free Renaissance commercial building. Red sandstone ashlar front, red brick to rear and side with some sandstone dressings. Bracketted band cill courses at 1st and 2nd floor; eaves cornice with tall ashlar parapet and ornamental carved end dies; angle pilasters channelled at ground floor with decorative carving to capitals; mullioned and transomed windows with boldly rounded arrises.

E ELEVATION: modern restaurant front at ground floor. Centre bay above slightly advanced with shallow angle pilasters and bipartite windows, dormerhead breaking parapet with squat bipartite, semicircular corniced and lugged pediment with monogrammed and carved cartouche. Quadripartite windows to outer bays.

N ELEVATION: windows to right, parapet terminated by ashlar wallhead stack.

W (REAR) ELEVATION: quadripartite stair window to centre; bipartite windows to outer bays. Modern replacement windows throughout. Piended roof with interlocking concrete tiles, iron finials to front; wallhead stack to W (see above).

INTERIOR: not seen 1993.
