Description

Early 20th century (probably 1919-20). Free-standing, five-storey block constructed of red brick with contrasting yellow brick dressings. Plain ground floor with large vehicular openings. Pilaster strips divide the bays above. Round-headed openings throughout, mostly retaining original glazing. Curved bay to northeast corner. Double-layered dentil cornice; flat roof.

Statement of Interest

This building was an extension to the Glebe Sugar Refinery on the other side of Ker Street, which was founded in 1831. It was connected to the earlier (demolished) building across the road by an unusual sugar conveying bridge at the 5th floor.
