Description

1834, presumably designed by David Hamilton, cast by
Shotts Iron Co. Made for Hamilton Palace and later
removed to present site. 5 panels of railings set in
slim square plan concrete dies. Each panel has 11-bay
Ionic baluster shaped pilaster arcade with pendant
swags, acanthus leaves and anthemia at the base of the
pilaster, band of diamonds of alternating widths over
balls at bottom and circles of rosettes centered over
arches and trefoil rail at top.
