Alexander Cullen, 1904. 2-storey, pedimented shop and commercial building with lower, 2-storey, flat-roofed bays. Red sandstone ashlar, slate roof. Corniced ground floor and wallhead, pilastered angles; margined windows with plate glass sash and case glazing; ashlar-coped skews. FRONT ELEVATION: pedimented bay to right. Modern shopfront to ground floor, 3 windows to 1st, astragalled oculus to pediment; splayed angle to right with hoodmoulded clock and parapet to 1st floor; narrow pedimented bay to right return with window to 1st floor. Flat-roofed bays to left; corniced doorway and 2 ball-finials to porch at centre re-entrant; blocked shopfront to right, 2 window to 1st floor; window recessed to left with consoled segmental pediment, balustraded parapet. INTERIOR: not seen.
These buildings are linked to 8 Keith Street/1 Bourne Street and with it comprises the block formed at the north west end of Bourne and Townend Streets, part of the Bottom Cross. Keith Street was constructed in about 1894.
