Description

John Burnet, sen., 1860, Neo-Greek 5 bay, 2 storey,
polished ashlar front with single-storey projecting porch
at centre of ground floor flanked by pair of cast-iron
tripod lamps on pedestals. Ground floor chanelled above
plinth, 1st floor: windows have moulded architraves,
rusticated angle quoins, frieze with discs and dentil
cornice, piended slated roof; lower advanced 2 storey 3 bay
later? pedimented block to left; round-arched rusticated
gateway gives access to close at right.
Elevation to Abbey Row: 2-storey and basement, 3 bay,
off-centre door approached by steps between parapets with
ball-finials. Round-headed doorway has hollow moulded label
over; tripartite window over door, tripartite to left,
bipartite to right, with stilted round-arched heads and
centre shafts. Snecked rubble with polished dressings,
moulded cornice, piended slated roof.
