Description

Late 19th century. Alms Houses. Squared, snecked granite with sandstoen dressings. Square, built on 3 sides, with 16 terraced and detached single storey and attic (2-storeys to St Mary's Street) houses. chamfered margins. N and E sides have symmetrically placed gabled bays, 2 central gables on W elevation to street. Gabled wallhead dormers. Slate roof. Wrought-iron entrance gates with inscription "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord".

Erected with funds given by Edward Atkinson to the Kirk session of St Cuthbert's. Cost $3,000.
