Mid 19th century with large 1882 addition by William
Leiper, Architect. Earlier block to right, in Tudor
manner, 2 storeys, part with attic; asymmetrical. Stugged
ashlar. Central door, (door peice missing) single light
above. 2-storey canted bay to right with facetted roof
behind parapet, linked by ridge to main roof; iron finial
added by Leiper, dated 1882. Advanced bay with single
storey canted and battlemented bay to left. Mullion and
transom window above, with string rising to form
hoodmould; single light in shaped gable. Leiper addition;
Scottish Baronial. Raised on plinth; large circular angle
tower with single bay to right and on the return elevation
to left, wide projecting bay with porch to north. Windows,
either single light with transom and relieving arch, or
2 or 3 light mullion and transom. Tower, with decorative
quatrefoil and 1/2 quatrefoil panels over windows to
ground and first floor respectively. Corbelled parapet
and conical roof with large gabled dormer and finial at
apex. Piended dormer to right. Gabled porch with elaborate
timber tracery (door now blocked) in north bay. Above,
1st floor corbelled out with central tripartite recessed
in panel. Gablehead with applied timber-framing has small
oriel window and carved bargeboards. Bas-relief panel of
lady playing a harp in narrow recessed bay to right of
porch. Complex plan slate roof with red ridge tiles.
