Description

J Burnet of Ewesbank, Langholm, architect, 1881. Straightforward Gothic church hall, simplified version of parish church, with hood-moulded lancets. Stugged ashlar with polished dressings. Rectangular-plan, with E, W and N elevations buttressed, pointed doorway central in N gable with nook-shafts, stepped 3-light window above and cross-finialed apex belfry (no bell). Saw-toothed skews; stack over S gable; slate roof. Gabled porch on S gable. Set behind simple cast-iron railings at W.

Effective relationship to parish church which sits almost parallel on W bank opposite. Change of Category B to C(S) 12.7.88.
