Early/earlier 19th century with minor alterations. Terrace of 3; 2-storey cottages; Nos 1 and 3 are 3-bay; No 2 is 2-bay. No 1 is of finely coursed whinstone rubble (apart from E elevation, which is harled); Nos 2 and 3 are harled; all with painted ashlar dressings. Architraved openings.
N (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: No 1 (to outer left) is of symmetrical double-fronted design. Central entrance with flat consoled hood and plain timber door; flanking windows to each floor and one above. Coped skews. No 2 (to right) has entrance with panelled timber door to right; 2 windows to left to each floor; coped skew to right. No 3 is double-fronted with entrance to right of centre; panelled timber door with glazed upper panel; inserted garage entrance to left and enlarged window to right; 3 smaller windows to 1st floor; central one to left of entrance.
S ELEVATION: rear wings added to Nos 1 and 2.
E ELEVATION: harled gable end (to No 1) to right; single window to left to each floor. Single storey and loft harled ancillary range adjoins to left. 2 ground floor entrances with inserted garage entrance in between; piended-roofed pitching/loading door to loft. Triangular flight hole to gable end to left return; small piended-roofed extension adjoins below.
W ELEVATION: adjoins No 4 the Loan.
4-pane timber sash and case windows to principal (N) elevation to No 1; 12-pane timber sash and case windows to No 2; UPVC replacements to No 3. Grey slate roofs. Harled ridge stacks (including gablehead) to either side of No 1; single harled ridge stack to E side of Nos 2 and 3; round cans.
INTERIORS: not inspected (1998).
B group with the adjoining terraced properties No 4 and Nos 5-7 (see separate list descriptions), which together form a varied and relatively well preserved early terrace. Nos 1-3 would appear to incorporate the earliest extant material.
