Square columnar War Memorial. 2-tier plinth below fielded inscription tablets to all 4 faces with cavetto moulding giving way to battered ashlar column, pulvinated, stugged bands, crowned on each face by different insignia over wording, "Endurance, Sacrifice, Valour, Duty", the latter surmounted by the Arms of the Earls of Rothes; the whole surmounted by further ashlar course with 2 vertical indents and moulded coping, in Italianate style.

Statement of Interest

Unusual form and grand for a small burgh, echoing classicism of designs by Imperial War Graves Commission.
