Description

Dated 1896. 3-storey block with Scots Baronial details
designed to harmonise with town hall adjoining. 2 crow-
stepped gables, conical-roofed turret at SW, corbelled above
ground floor. Stugged and snecked red ashlar with polished
dressings. Shops at ground, near-centre round-arched
doorway; mullioned and single windows above ground all
with transomes at 1st floor. Mostly 4-paned upper sashes,
plate glass lower sashes, 2nd floor stone-bracketted balcony
below wide left gable, prominent wallhead stack alongside.
End stacks; slate roofs.
