Late 18th century, drastically remodelled c.1900. Elevation to Market Place: 2 storey and attic, 3 bay, harled with ashlar dressings. Centre door with later 19th century shop-front to right, similar shop-front inserted c.1900 to left. 1st floor: outer windows enlarged to bipartites, lintel to centre window (re-used) bears date and above this a mediaeval roof-boss from Melrose Abbey inserted when the wall-head was raised c.1900. 3 large cat-slide roofed dormers to attic. Slated roof, brick end-stacks. Elevation to East Port incorporates at least two formerly separate properties, 4 bays wide, 2 storey and attic, gable over eastern bays, harled.
