Circa 1840c in present form, probably remodelled from
remnant of house previously at this site - 2 storey
small mansion with single storey wing parallel with
SW wall. Complex piended and semi conical slate roofs
over bowed ends to NE, SE and over SE of single storey
wing, harled with raised sandstone door, window and
angle margins. Each bow end has 2 windows, with
chimney stack between, except on wing. Door on NE front
flanked by 1 window and 1 above. 1 window ground and 1st
floors between bows on SE front. Most windows 6 pane sash,
French windows, on west of 2 bows, have lying panes.
The original mansion of Stoneyhill, home of the
notorious Col Charteris, (1675-1732) was demolished
1838. The present buildings probably represent, at
least in part, later additions or ancillary buildings
to that house.
