Description

T G Abercrombie, architect. 1905-6. Free style, 4 storey
tenement with 3 bays to Causeyside, 4 to Orchard Street and
canted corner. Ashlar. Corner has canted window with later
glazing at ground floor flanked by architraved door at left
(to Causeyside) with shaped cornice and oculus over and
oculus to right (to Orchard Street); pairs of consoles
flank oculi, supporting cornice over ground floor and
pairs of pilasters rising to eaves and linked open
bartizans; tripartites to each floor, that to 3rd corbelled
and bowed with stepped parapet; crowstepped gable behind.
Rest of Causeyside elevation has centre doorway flanked by
later tripartite to right and modern shop to left.
Cornice over ground. Upper floors have bipartite window
to left with cill band to 3rd floor. Stepped parapet over
canted bay; and swept eaves. Orchard Street similarly
treated with extra sash and bipartite at ground and extra
canted window flanking corner. Slate roof with stacks
some corniced, some rebuilt.
