Description

Samuel Henning, wright-architect 1779-81. Interior re-cast

1884, and altered 1981. Rectangular plan. Squared rubble

with ashlar dressing including long and short quoins. West

elevation has pedimented porch with angle margins,

architraved, keystoned round arch on pilasters with small

window over, oculus to tympanum and 3 urn finials. 4 windows

to west and 5 to east elevation, at round-headed. South

elevation has 2 round-headed windows flanking similarly

detailed door at ground and 4 gallery windows. 2-storey

projection at north with single storey wings. Eaves band,

bracketted cornice and blocking course. Pedimented wallhead

stacks at north angles, that to west rendered. Piended and

platformed slate roof.

Interior has galleries to 3 sides on cast iron colonettes but cantilevered out on brackets. Elliptically headed arch

supported by Corinthian columns on pedestals.

Former Middle Church No Longer ecclesiastical use.

Cost $2117 5s 9d. Internally divided during 1981.
