Description

Mid to later 18th century. 2-storey 3-bay house with classical details, modern shopfront inserted. Smooth render simulating ashlar, peeble-dash to rear. Base course; architraved windows.

E (FRONT) ELEVATION: widely spaced bays; Greek Doric columned doorpiece to centre with panelled door. Regular fenestration. Modern shopfront inserted to right. 2 canted dormers.

S (BRIDGEGATE) ELEVATION: gabled with apex stack. Doorway to centre, window at 1st floor to right.

W (REAR) ELEVATION: small extension to outer left; wallhead stack to centre.

INTERIOR: not seen 1994.

Statement of Interest

Once the home of explorer Mungo Park (1771-1806) who lived in Peebles from 1779-1805.
