Description

Earlier 19th century. 2-storey and basement 3-bay symmetrical classical villa. Whinstone, coursed rubble with grey sandstone dressings. Rendered basement; 1st floor windows corniced with shouldered architraves.

W (FRONT) ELEVATION: round-arched doorway with deep cavetto-moulded jambs, panelled door and semicirular astragalled fanlight, pedimented doorcase with anthemion brackets, accessed by steps flanked by lion sculptures on pedestals. Regular fenestration.

E (REAR) ELEVATION: tall round-arched stair windows to centre. Full-height canted bay with roof breaking eaves to outer left. Single windows to right.

S ELEVATION: 1st floor window to centre with hortus fenestralis. 2 corniced wallhead stacks.

N ELEVATION: single 1st floor window to left, corniced wallhead stack.

Timber sash and case windows with 2-pane upper sashes and 4-pane lower sashes. Grey slate piend and platform roof. 3 stacks (see above).

INTERIOR: not seen 1994.

BOUNDARY WALL AND GATEPIERS: low boundary wall to front with square plan sandstone gatepiers with chamfered arrises, pyramidal coping with ball finials.
