Circa 1870. Gothic villa. Single storey and attic; 2-bay and south wing. Snecked rubble; ashlar margins.
W (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: shouldered doorway recessed to outer right; 2-light windows; cusped heads in bays at ground floor. 2 half-timbered gablet dormers painted black with white tympana; 2-light windows with cusped heads; straight barge boards; diagonally boarded tympana; ball finials.
N ELEVATION: not seen 2000.
E ELEVATION: central timber door. First floor painted white; 3-windows regularly spaced. Brick extension painted white at right; forestair to door; flanking window.
S ELEVATION: demi octagonal prjection; door with fanlight in west flank. Single window with cusped head in left bay.
Modern PVC glazing to original patter: upper sashes 12-pane; lower sashes 2-pane. Purple slate roof; finials to ridges; central ashlar stack; cast-iron rainwater goods, including decorative brackets.
INTERIOR: not seen 2000.
A good example of later 19th century gothic. This house is the only example of this style in the town centre and provides an interesting contrast to the predominantly vernacular designs of the High Street.
