Description

Early 19th century; 3 2-storey and attic houses, each 3 bays
with centre doors. All coursed rubble, tooled margins, some
painted. 4-pane sashes; end and ridge stacks; slate roofs.
No 4; painted lintel course to ground floor; double leaf
panelled door; modern box dormer; piended roof. Harled gable
to Duke Street with painted margins.
No 6; 2 canted dormers; double leafed panelled door.
No 8; double leafed panelled door; 2 small original piended
dormers with original 6-pane glazing. Small attic window to
Petley Street gable.

Statement of Interest

Nos 4 and 8 appear on 1827 "map of Newtown of Tain; Donald

Macleod Esq of Geannies". No 4 feued by David Skinner,

Cabinet Maker and No 8 by George Fyvie, Carpenter. No 6

appears to have been erected very shortly after this date.
