Earlier to mid 19th century. 2 storey with attic, 3 bay, rectangular plan traditional farmhouse with extension to rear. Whinstone rubble with contrasting, droved long and shortwork quoins. Eaves course.
S ELEVATION: symmetrical. Deep set, panelled timber door at centre with plate glass fanlight, windows in flanking bays and regular fenestration at 1st floor.
N ELEVATION: low, pitch roofed extension across centre, stair window at centre and windows to outer right and left at both floors.
E ELEVATION: window to outer right and left at ground and to outer left at 1st floor, further small window off centre right at gablehead.
W ELEVATION: window to left of centre at ground and small window off centre left at gablehead.
4 pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case windows. Grey slates. Ashlar coped skews with broad, coped ashlar stacks.
INTERIOR: timber fireplace with decorative cast iron inset echoing fruit design of ceiling rose; plain cornicing, shutters and curved stone stair.
BOUNDARY WALL: coped rubble boundary walls.
Courtyard steading immediately N of the farmhouse now (1995) much altered after use as a riding stable and currently unoccupied, was altered and upgraded by James Gillespie & Scott 1875, 1915 and 1918.
