Description

Later 19th century. Single storey and attic piecturesque gabled lodgehouse with overhanging bracketed eaves, set back from road behind railings at W entrance to The Drum. Squared and coursed stugged ashlar with polished ashlar dressings; base course, stone mullions, chamfered reveals, moulded band course, 1st floor slightly corbelled out.

SE ELEVATION: entrance in advanced, gabled bay, deep-set door with lugged raised surround, window to gable at 1st floor, bipartite with bracketed stone canopy to left at ground.

SW ELEVATION: to road, advanced gabled bay with bipartite to each floor, single bay at ground floor left.

Lower single storey wing at rear. Sash and case windows with 6-pane glazing pattern. Timber barge boards, brackets and kingpost detail to gables, grey slates, corniced ashlar ridge stack to N.

GATEPIERS, GATES AND RAILINGS: 6 gatepiers linked by plinth with railings, rusticated ashlar with moulded base and cornice. Cast-iron gates, low curved ashlar plinth supporting railings with wrought- and cast-iron foliate panels, simple cast-iron railings to road linking final pair of gatepiers.
