S (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: central pilastered and corniced entrance; recessed modern door; flanking windows at ground (enlarged to right); regular fenestration at 1st floor.
Modern glazing. Grey slate roof.
INTERIOR: not seen 1997.
The houses in this street are described by W McIlwraith in 1875 as, "... nearly all two storeys, plain and substantial." The lower roof height and impressive doorpiece of No 8 suggests an earlier date than its neighbours to the right (see separate list descriptions for Nos 6, 4 and 2 Hanover Street).
