Description

Circa 1800. 2-storey 3-bay symmetrical traditional farmhouse with single storey wing to rear forming L-plan. Harl-pointed rubble walls. Projecting cills to windows.

W (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: symmetrical, single storey gabled entrance porch at centre, regular fenestration in flanking bays and at 1st floor.

S GABLE: single window at ground to outer left.

E (REAR) ELEVATION: asymmetrical 4-bay elevation; window at ground and small window at 1st floor in bay to left of centre. Regular fenestration in bay to outer left. Stair window in bay to right of centre; elevation to right obscured by gabled single storey wing with 3-bay regularly fenestrated N elevation and modern lean-to to S.

4-pane timber fixed-lights to sides of entrance porch; modern glazing elsewhere. Purple-grey slate to principal pitches; stugged sandstone stacks to gables of house and wing, all coped with circular cans; 2-flue wallhead stack with red cans to E elevation.

OUTBUILDING: gabled outbuilding adjacent to E of house; random rubble walls and stone slab roof (partially collapsed).

GARDEN WALL: random rubble wall adjoining outbuilding, enclosing garden to E of house.

The house at Oredaal is a prominent landmark from all around the inlet of Baltasound.
