Circa 1925. Memorial to Great War comprising symmetrical battered tower of square plan. Harl-pointed rubble plinth with slabbed top; stugged squared and snecked sandstone 2nd stage, battered, with ashlar cross to E side, and inscribed polished granite memorial slab set into W side; open-work parapet over string course comprising merlon-like dies linked by continuous cope.
The memorial was designed by Holbourn, the local laird who lived at the Haa of Foula, and built by local labour. Like the porch Holbourn added to the Haa, the design of the memorial is very competent, and also bold in its plainness given its early date. This memorial is a prominent landmark situated above the rocks south of the pier.
