Earlier 19th century. 2 L-plan mews blocks creating V-plan mews with triangular court. Predominantly coursed rubble, some droved dressings.
N BLOCK: predominantly 2-storey. Variety of 2-leaf vertically-boarded timber doors in bays at ground, segmental-arched carriage door openings at centre. 2-leaf 6-panel timber door in NE corner, with 6-pane fanlight. Round-arched loading doors rising into stone gabled dormerhead, breaking eaves; glazed to left, with timber infill to right. Cement infilled loading doors to NE angle, and outer right.
S BLOCK: predominantly 2-storey, including original relieving arch centred at ground. Variety of 2-leaf vertically-boarded timber garage doors in bays at ground. Modern shop front to right of centre, with plate glass window; stone gabled dormerhead breaking eaves at attic, in bay above. Casement window breaking eaves to left of centre. Vertically-boarded timber infilled loading door to E return.
Variety of windows and roof-types. Cast-iron rainwater goods. Ashlar wallhead and ridge stacks; coped, with circular cans.
Part of the Second New Town A Group, covering a significant surviving part of one of the most important and best preserved examples of urban planning in Britain.
