Description

19th century. Single storey, 3-bay, crowstepped former school. Bull-faced squared and snecked rubble with dressed ashlar quoins. Base and eaves courses. Segmental-headed doorway; relieving arch; crowstepped gables with louvered oculi; stop-chamfered arrises and stone mullions.

NE (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: deeply moulded doorway to right of centre with 2-leaf panelled timber door and multi-pane fanlight, small moulded panel above in gablet, broad gabled bay to left with tripartite window and relieving arch; small recessed gabled bay to outer right with bipartite window.

NW ELEVATION: gabled bay to right with tripartite window, slightly recessed lower bay to left with bipartite window to right and further window to left.

SW (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: tripartite window in gabled bay to right and bipartite window to left; door on return to outer right accessed via link with modern building to SW.

SE ELEVATION: 3 bipartite windows.

Multi-pane glazing pattern over 2-pane lower sashes in timber sash and case windows. Grey slates. Coped ashlar stack and ashlar-coped skews with beak skewputts.

INTERIOR: plain cornices and boarded timber dadoes throughout.

BOUNDARY WALLS AND GATEPIERS: coped rubble boundary walls with pyramidal-coped, square-section ashlar gatepiers with stop-chamfered angles.
