Earlier to mid 19th century. Rectangular-plan steading. Squared rubble with dressed quoins and voussoirs.
CARTSHED AND GRANARY: corrugated-iron roof.
SW ELEVATION: 3 segmental-headed cart arches to centre and right, and timber door to outer left with adjacent window (former door) to right. 5 small square regularly disposed granary openings above.
SE ELEVATION: bay to left of centre with stone forestair leading to hayloft with boarded timber door, lower bay with window to right.
NE ELEVATION: advanced gable to left with windows to ground and in gablehead. Further range projecting to right of centre.
NW ELEVATION: small hayloft opening off-centre left, timber lean-to at ground.
CATTLECOURTS: loosely square-plan; grey slates.
SE ELEVATION: long range with timber doors to left and right of centre, and broad entrance off-centre right. Isolated gabled range with window below small timber-shuttered opening and modern corrugated roof to outer right.
NW ELEVATION: 2 blank piended bays to right of centre, further blank piended bay projecting to outer right; slightly lower bay to left of centre with door to left, and further piended bay to outer left with full-height door and modern corrugated roof.
SW ELEVATION: long low range with sliding timber doors to centre and left bays, window to right of centre and door beyond to right; cartshed abutting to outer right.
Property of the Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorn. The 1st edition OS map shows a rectangular-plan open courtyard steading. Tarbrax Farmhouse is listed separately.
