Description

Thomas Bonnar, 1825-1827. 3-storey and basement, 6-bay terraced pair of 3-bay tenements. Sandstone ashlar with channelled rustication at ground, squared rubble to E elevation. Base course, cill band course at 1st floor, corniced and architraved windows with decorative window guard balconies at 1st floor, cornice and blocking course with eaves band, ashlar steps and entrance platts oversailing basement.

E (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: timber panelled doors in recessd panels with fanlights in paired entrances in bays to centre, windows in recesses to remaining bays. Regular fenestration above with larger windows to 1st floor.

N ( EAST CLAREMONT STREET LANE) ELEVATION: gable end wall with single bay to centre, small windows at ground, oriel window at 1st floor, window at 2nd floor.

Timber sash and case windows with 12-pane glazing, plate glass to 1st floor at E elevation, ridge and gablehead stacks with terracotta cans, fleur-de-lys headed cast-iron railings.

INTERIOR: not seen 1998.
