Statement of Interest

Part of the Edinburgh New Town A Group. Cornwallis Place, although plainer than the neighbouring Bellevue Crescent, is of interest as part of the New Town, one of the most important and best preserved examples of urban planning in Britain. The adjoining northern section of Bellevue Crescent designed by Bonnar in 1818, was not built until 1882-4, still following the original facade design, but slightly modified by D Cousin, in 1869.
